Academic Success Program
The Academic Success Program ("ASP") complements the first-year curriculum by helping students develop the academic and analytical skills needed to succeed in law school through group study sessions, workshops, and individual student advising.
This program is based on eligibility criteria guidelines established by the faculty of the Law School. Students will be notified if they are selected for the fall and/or spring program. Students may contact APD with questions about the program or eligibility.
Study Sessions: ASP study sessions are led by upper-division APD Student Fellows and are designed to clarify and stimulate students' analysis of the legal issues presented in class and course readings. ASP-eligible students are encouraged to participate in these study sessions.
Other Resources:
- Faculty Advising: Students may meet with APD faculty advisors, Devin Kinyon or Joan Harrington. Sign-ups are administered through TWEN.
- 1L Skills Workshops: Students are encouraged to attend these workshops to gain skills on outlining and time management.
- 1L Practice Exams: Students are encouraged to take mock exams and receive feedback.
- APD Resource Room: Students can utilize the study aides and use the area as a place to study.
- ASP Links: Resources across the internet.
- Baby Bar: this exam, also known as the “First-Year Law Student’s Exam,” is administered by the California Bar and is for those students disqualified after their first-year of study. Students who successfully pass the Baby Bar will be readmitted to the Law School.
