David Hasen

Associate Professor of Law


Biography

Prior to joining the faculty at Santa Clara University School of Law, Professor Hasen taught at Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law, and at the University of Michigan Law School.

 

Professor Hasen is a noted tax scholar and the 2008-09 Professor-in-Residence at the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Professor Hasen’s scholarship and teaching focus on taxation, jurisprudence, administrative law, and contracts. His scholarly work has appeared in the Emory Law Journal, Texas Law Review, Yale Journal on Regulation, and Tax Law Review. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Southern California School of Law, Hastings College of Law, and the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to teaching, Professor Hasen clerked for Judge Maxine Chesney on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and worked as an associate in the tax departments of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C. Professor Hasen earned his doctorate in government from Harvard University and his law degree from Yale Law School, where he served as a notes editor of the Yale Law Journal.
