International Legal Professionals Program
ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS NOW
This program is designed for experienced international professionals from outside the United States who are practicing law and who desire to study particular aspects of U.S. law.
Participants in this program take one or two classes of their choice which are relevant to their practice. Participants are invited to attend all seminars and symposium conducted at the law school, and may take advantage of guided opportunities to observe the practice of law and operation of the U.S. judicial system.
This program begins in July and extends through the fall semester.
Program
- Attend Introduction to U.S. Law course in July/August;
- Enroll as auditing student in up to two upper division law courses of choice;
- Participate in professional networking events, including guided visits to courts, meetings with state and federal judges, social and other events arranged by the Center with local practitioners;
- Attend all non-class lectures, seminars, and conferences of choice sponsored by the School of Law; and
- Complete one research paper on a legal issue of choice.
Upon successful completion of one semester, participants receive a Certificate of Completion of Program suitable for framing.
Admissions Requirements
- Active member of legal profession in home country for at least five years;
- Proficiency in English language sufficient to attend lectures and take English language examinations, as evidenced by TOEFL scores or oral interview;
- Statement of interest, including desired course of study;
- Transcript, curriculum vitae, or other confirmation of professional standing; and
- At least two letters of recommendation from members of the legal profession.
Tuition
Tuition cost for summer/fall 2012 = $1,643 per enrolled unit (participation on the program assume a maximum enrollment of 9 units (3 units for the summer 'Introduction' course and 6 units for the fall semester)).
