Document Delivery Service

FIDO, Faculty Information Delivered On-time, is a new joint department venture of the Circulation and Reference departments to provide an expanded document delivery service. No longer do you need to determine if something is available here in Heafey, at Orradre, on Link+, or available from a database. Just submit your request and we will strive to have your request in your mail box or email with 24-48 hours.

Any type of document including cases, statutes, journal articles, legislative/government documents, monographs, and loose-leaf materials may be requested via our document delivery form.  Please read the policy and procedure for our document delivery service before making a request.  If you prefer, you may use our PDF document delivery fill-in form to mail or fax (408-554-5318).

Library Liaison Program

Heafey Law Library assigns a reference librarian to serve as a liaison to all full-time faculty members.  Liaisons assist faculty members with research projects, provide training on use of electronic resources, and furnish information to faculty about new library resources and services. View the list or contact the reference desk at x4452 if you do not know your assigned liaison.  You may also email reference requests to sculawlibrarian@gmail.com and it will be forwarded to your liaison.

Your liaison is your personal librarian, here to serve your research interests.  We encourage faculty members to make an appointment and sit down with their library liaison every semester to go over your research goals for the academic year.  This allows us to plan accordingly and prepare for your research requests.  Remember, we are here to save you time and effort, and increase the effectiveness of your research.

Here is just a sampling of the services we can offer:

1. Literature Searches and Reference Services. This includes: finding books and articles by subject, looking for answers in the literature, assembling a citation bibliography on a topic, etc. We can discuss what projects are appropriate for this service and what projects are more appropriate for a Research Assistant.

2. Ongoing Searches and Current Awareness. We can discuss the various options available to get information to you on a regular basis. This can include SmartCILP, the electronic version of the Current Index to Legal Periodicals, or scheduled searches on Lexis and Westlaw.

3. Locating and Retrieving Desired Materials. You can direct all your requests for books and articles to your liaison. Were are also happy to show you the basics of using OSCAR, the online catalog, to help you directly search for materials if you would prefer.
